چکیده
We consider the non-equilibrium dynamics of a weakly interacting Bose gas tightly confined to highly elongated double well potential. use self-consistent time-dependent Hartree--Fock approximation in combination with projection full three-dimensional theory several coupled one-dimensional channels. This allows us model splitting and phase imprinting initially single quasi potential obtain microscopic description ensuing damped Josephson oscillations.

متن کاملFermi-Bose mapping for one-dimensional Bose gases
One-dimensional Bose gases are considered, interacting either through the hardcore potentials or through the contact delta potentials. Interest in these gases gained momentum because of the recent experimental realization of quasi-one-dimensional Bose gases in traps with tightly confined radial motion, achieving the Tonks-Girardeau (TG) regime of strongly interacting atoms. For such gases the F...
متن کاملNon-equilibrium coherence dynamics in one-dimensional Bose gases.
Low-dimensional systems provide beautiful examples of many-body quantum physics. For one-dimensional (1D) systems, the Luttinger liquid approach provides insight into universal properties. Much is known of the equilibrium state, both in the weakly and strongly interacting regimes. However, it remains a challenge to probe the dynamics by which this equilibrium state is reached. Here we present a...
متن کاملOne-Dimensional Behavior of Dilute, Trapped Bose Gases
Recent experimental and theoretical work has shown that there are conditions in which a trapped, low-density Bose gas behaves like the one-dimensional delta-function Bose gas solved years ago by Lieb and Liniger. This is an intrinsically quantum-mechanical phenomenon because it is not necessary to have a trap width that is the size of an atom – as might have been supposed – but it suffices mere...
متن کاملQuench-induced breathing mode of one-dimensional Bose gases.
We measure the position- and momentum-space breathing dynamics of trapped one-dimensional Bose gases at finite temperature. The profile in real space reveals sinusoidal width oscillations whose frequency varies continuously through the quasicondensate to ideal Bose gas crossover. A comparison with theoretical models taking temperature into account is provided. In momentum space, we report the f...
